Following Your Intuition...into 2026

I did something radical over the holidays this year. I turned down a trip to Mexico with my family so that I could stay home alone. And I’m so glad I did. They had a wonderful time and so did I!
I spent my days doing the Year Compass (an annual tradition), taking part in a free mini-course called the Winter Writing Sanctuary, and also participating in a Guiding Word workshop on Zoom that helped me choose a one-word intention for the year ahead.
I also walked the dog, read books, and thoroughly enjoyed being back in our house after a tumultuous couple of years. It was a very grounding time, one that I desperately needed, but would have missed out on had I not listened to my intuition (which strongly advised me to say no to the offer of a tropical vacation and stay home and rest!).
It can be hard to give yourself what you need, especially if the people closest to you want something different. Sometimes it can even be hard to know exactly what you need.
Life is moving more quickly than ever and I find myself increasingly craving more simplicity, more moments that ground me, and more time in nature.
What about you? What are you craving as 2026 begins to unfold? What do you most need? What do you most want to create for yourself?
As always, I write these letters as a way to connect with you and with the hope that something I share resonates or inspires. I love hearing from you, so please be in touch and tell me about your intuitive nudges and wishes for 2026!

f you’ve set the intention to write in 2026 but aren’t sure how to begin—or feel like you could use a gentle kickstart—I’d love to help.
As a writing mentor, I offer free 30-minute phone or video calls where we can talk through your ideas and explore what you need to keep your project moving forward this year.
I work with writers at every stage and across many genres, including memoir, fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and academic writing.
